I pray your holiday is a joyous one! The Wood family is planning to show up for the Turkey Trot tomorrow and then drive over to spend time with relatives. The word on the street is that Grammy is cooking a 25lb turkey – yikes – that’s officially declaring war on my belt!
I read a funny quote this morning, “On Thanksgiving Day, all American families sit down for dinner at the same moment – halftime!” Probably true. However, as Christians, we must ensure that tomorrow carries a MUCH deeper meaning than sports and stuffing! There must be time where the phones are set down, the TV shut off, and we publicly recount the blessings of our gracious God.
In 1 Thessalonians 5:18 Paul tells us, “In everything give thanks, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Did you catch that? People often ask, “What is God’s will for me?” Paul tells us squarely, “God’s will is for you to be thankful!” This means that tomorrow cannot ultimately be a true success unless there’s time devoted to saying, “Thank you.”
Live out God’s will tomorrow… It begins by saying, “Thank you.”
