Winter is a great time for reading! Approximately twice per year I share books that I’ve read or am reading outside of sermon preparation. On rare occasion, I will list technical resources, but by and large this list is meant to be enjoyed by a wide variety of readers. (Ex. my eight year old son enjoys some of these!)

Maybe you get bored reading? One of the ways I was instructed to read while in college, which I enjoy thoroughly, is to rotate 3-4 books at one time, balancing a diverse scope of subject matter, and attempting to incorporate the topics into daily writ and conversation (Charles Spurgeon mastered this). Maybe you don’t have enough time to read? John Piper calculated that if we would simply turn off the TV or computer 20 minutes per day, 5 days per week, we’d easily consume over a dozen books per year – Isn’t that amazing?

Most of the books listed can be found on Amazon and Kindle. Many of them can be found used on Thriftbooks for under four dollars, so even if you don’t enjoy the read, you’ve got a stocking stuffer for Christmas! Enjoy… – TW
